Software Engineer
Lead the engine room as a 2nd Engineer, ensuring safe, efficient operation of cargo systems, engines, and deck machinery on a gas‑shipping vessel, while supporting the Chief Engineer and maintaining rigorous safety standards.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Chief Engineer in the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of the engine room, cargo system, and deck machinery.
- Perform watchkeeping duties, monitoring engine performance, fuel consumption, and environmental compliance.
- Coordinate routine and emergency maintenance tasks, ensuring minimal downtime and adherence to safety protocols.
- Maintain accurate logs, reports, and documentation for engine performance, repairs, and regulatory inspections.
- Collaborate with the deck crew to optimize cargo handling and vessel operations.
Requirements
- Valid marine engineering certification with experience in engine room operations.
- Strong knowledge of marine propulsion systems, cargo handling equipment, and deck machinery.
- Proficiency in watchkeeping, logbook maintenance, and safety compliance.
- Excellent teamwork, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including night and weekend shifts.
