Engineering Manager
I'm a software engineer with more than 10 years of experiences designing and building systems of different natures (core network infrastructure, automation tools, customer facing backend products). Looking at the whole picture, seeing how the pieces fit together and finding the simplest way to accomplish an objective is the most interesting and challenging part of what we do as engineers. But as I grow more mature, I'm finding more enjoyable mentoring and helping younger team members to grow and build their own career path. Last but not least, being in a product management role for the last couple of years has given me the necessary tools to understand how to make an impact while keeping sanity in the tech stack. Specialties: software engineering, mentoring, keeping things simple, took production down a few times (and learned in the process)

CONFINE
October 1, 2011 – Present
The CONFINE experimental facility supports experimentally-driven research on Community-owned Open Local IP Networks. These networks are already successful in developing internet access in many areas of Europe and the world. The project takes an integrated view of community networking.
P2PGrid
January 1, 2008 – January 1, 2010
P2PGRID project is focused on the design of innovative large scale distributed systems, decentralized, able to adapt to complex environments (in terms of infrastructure or use) and heterogeneous in the access to communication and computation resources.
Grid4All European Project
June 1, 2006 – February 1, 2009
Grid4All was a European Project which embraced the vision of a democratic Grid as a ubiquitous utility whereby domestic users, small organisations and enterprises may draw on resources on the Internet without having to individually invest and manage computing and IT resources. My work focused on providing market mechanisms to such democratic infrastructure.
Cultural Fit Analysis
The candidate has a strong academic background and extensive experience in research-oriented projects (CONFINE, P2PGrid, Grid4All) and companies like Midokura, which focuses on complex networking solutions. Their roles at Adevinta involved platform modernization and solving complex orchestration problems, indicating an adaptability to evolving technical landscapes. The long tenure at Midokura (across multiple roles) suggests loyalty and growth within an organization. However, the project descriptions lack specific technologies, making it harder to assess alignment with modern backend stacks beyond what's mentioned in work experience. The focus on distributed systems and infrastructure aligns well with a senior backend role in a technically challenging environment.
Soft Skills & Operational Fit
The candidate's experience as a Technical Lead and Engineering Manager, coupled with leading design and implementation efforts, suggests strong leadership, problem-solving, and team collaboration skills. Their work on internal developer platforms and automation tools indicates a focus on improving engineering productivity and operational efficiency. The academic background also points to strong analytical and research capabilities.
