Virtual Reality Driving Simulator

Using the Oculus Rift Virtual reality HMD, Leap Motion hand tracking technology, a Logitech video game steering wheel controller and Unreal Engine 4, my team and I are working on a virtual reality driving simulator that simulates real world driving conditions using publicly available traffic data. This project was designed to gather information regarding a driver's head position, visual direction, hand position and pedal pressure in various 3-dimensional real world driving conditions and scenarios. These scenarios can be customized with publicly available real time data such as traffic density and traffic light timings and can vary from accident situations and traffic jams in day or nighttime conditions. The data from this project can then be used to determine where a driver typically looks and how they drive in these conditions. This project was proposed by Dr. Khan, a engineering professor at CSU Sacramento and is as part of my senior project coursework at CSU Sacramento.
