Altruistiq is a data-driven SaaS solution that serves as a hub for business and sustainability teams to automate and manage their corporate emissions reporting and reduction initiatives. I lead the Data team, which is responsible for automated sourcing of raw customer data of any format; transformation pipelines, converting raw data into sustainability metrics/insights; recommendations engine for emissions reduction initiatives; b2b data exchange of our emissions factor database product and suppliers/customers. We are always on the lookout for amazing data talent, so please do message me if you are interested in a career in ClimateTech and using data to create a cleaner planet for tomorrow! Prior to Altruistiq, I built and ran the Global Data Engineering practice at QuantumBlack (McKinsey's AI centre of excellence), growing the team to more than 100 Globally, and serving Financial Services clients on Data Strategy, Analytics Strategy, and implementing data foundations to support AI at scale. I also co-led McKinsey's Data Engineering community of practice, c. 500+ engineers Globally.

Cultural Fit Analysis
The candidate has a diverse professional background spanning consulting, corporate, and startup environments (Accenture, BT, Unilever, Deloitte, McKinsey, Altruistiq). This breadth of experience suggests adaptability and an ability to thrive in various organizational cultures. The progression into leadership roles at Altruistiq (Head of Data to CTO) indicates a commitment to growth and impact within an organization. However, the academic background in Classics, while demonstrating intellectual rigor, is not directly aligned with technical fields, which might require further assessment of their foundational technical learning approach. The target role of 'Big Data Engineer' is more hands-on than their recent leadership roles, which could be a cultural fit consideration regarding day-to-day responsibilities.
Soft Skills & Operational Fit
The candidate's career progression to CTO and Global Head of Data Engineering roles suggests strong leadership, strategic thinking, and operational management capabilities. Experience in building and scaling teams, defining technology strategy, and managing information security indicates a robust operational fit. The consulting background implies strong communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
