Customer Retention & Churn Risk Analysis
June 16, 2026 – Present
Business Problem: A global e-commerce platform was facing declining customer retention & rising churn, which was threatening long-term revenue growth. The objective was to identify key churn drivers and high-risk customer segments. Key Insights: Overall customer churn at 28.9% (nearly 1 in 3 customers). The active customer base has almost completely exhausted the LTV. The 18–24 age segment carried the highest risk of churn. Highly engaged customers churn at half the rate of the low engagement customers. Return rate and Customer support calls are 2 major friction factors contributing to churn. Customer acquisition had declined to 1/3 over the last two years. Outcome & Recommendations: Recommended an urgent targeted customer acquisition campaign for 25-45 age segment, re-engagement campaign for the 18–24 segment with personalisation and reward systems; proposed upsell strategies to shift low-spend customers (50% of revenue base) to medium-spend; flagged declining acquisition as a critical business risk requiring immediate attention.

Business Problem: An e-commerce business needed a comprehensive view of its sales performance to identify revenue drivers, understand customer value distribution, and quantify operational risk specifically around returns and portfolio fragmentation. Key Insights: Over-dependence on repeat customers contributing to 75% of the total revenue. The top 10 products contributed just 17% of revenue, indicating severe long-tail fragmentation. Returns eroded 8-9% of revenue, with two SKUs exceeding 50% return rates. Low-spend customers (under ₹5K) constitute 94% of customer base. Outcome & Recommendations: Recommended aggressive new customer acquisition strategy; seasonal marketing campaigns for Oct–Nov peak demand; targeted discount bundling for low-spend customers to migrate them to the medium-spend segment; and priority investigation of high-return SKUs.

Cultural Fit Analysis
The candidate's project diversity, focusing on customer retention, churn analysis, and sales performance, aligns well with a data-driven culture. Their experience in both B2B operations and e-commerce marketplaces shows adaptability to different business contexts. The breadth of skills (SQL, Excel, Power BI, Analytics) indicates a willingness to learn and apply various tools. However, the academic background in Arts rather than a quantitative field, while not a direct impediment, might suggest a non-traditional path into data analysis, which could be a cultural fit consideration depending on the team's background. The psychometric test score is below average, which could indicate potential challenges in cultural alignment related to work attitude or team collaboration.
Soft Skills & Operational Fit
The candidate demonstrates strong problem-solving skills, particularly in identifying and resolving data quality issues and optimizing operational workflows. Their experience in leading data operations and collaborating with developers for CRM architecture indicates good organizational and teamwork capabilities. The ability to translate complex data into clear business recommendations suggests effective communication and strategic thinking. The psychometric test score (282/500) suggests potential areas for development in logical reasoning, work attitude, stress handling, or team collaboration, which would require further investigation.
