Design of Microgrid Project for a Commercial Building
March 1, 2016 – Present
1.) Designed the microgrid as per the customer specification and load usage including the system layout for the microgrid, carried out evaluation of the area available using Google Earth Pro and determine the available generated wattage. 2.) Selected components like solar panels, inverters and batteries. Carried out sizing of batteries and inverters and arrangement of solar panels in arrays and string using PVSYST. 3.) Carried out financial viability including LCOE and GHG Emissions considering pre-microgrid and post microgrid scenarios.
Potential Energy Reduction in an HVAC System
March 1, 2016 – Present
1.) Defined various components of HVAC systems like Heat Exchangers, Heat pumps, indoor terminals and Air Handling Units (AHU). 2.) Introduced various thermal parameters used for analysis of HVAC systems like entropy, exergy analysis and introduced new parameter called entransy. 3.) Carried out entransy analysis of HVAC system used for space heating one using solar thermal and another with heat pump using POLYSUN software.
Analysis of electrical loads of commercial buildings participating in Demand Response
March 1, 2015 – Present
1.) Carried out extensive load analysis of the 3 commercial sites from Enernoc website. 2.) Used matplotlib API in python to visualize the load data of the 3 sites from CSV file, by obtaining the plot of loads on Weekdays vs. weekends and finding out the maximum load and minimum load during the whole year. 3.) Figured out the ISO/utility responsible for calling the DR events for the 3 sites from the information provided in the meta data file from Enernoc website. Utilizing this information found that 1 site participated in the DR event and plotted the curve of load during the DR participation with the baseline load used by the utility. 4.) By participating in the DR event the peak demand loads were offset during the peak times thereby curbing the use of peaker plants.
Cultural Fit Analysis
The candidate's project experience, particularly in sustainable energy and demand response, aligns with roles requiring an understanding of energy systems and data-driven decision-making. The blend of engineering and business education (MBA) suggests a holistic view, which can be beneficial for understanding business implications of data analysis. However, the primary professional experience is heavily skewed towards traditional engineering roles rather than dedicated data analysis, which might require a cultural shift towards a more data-centric environment.
Soft Skills & Operational Fit
The candidate's project descriptions indicate an ability to define problems, analyze data, and propose solutions. Experience in coordinating with cross-functional departments suggests good collaboration skills. The detailed descriptions of project activities imply a structured approach to problem-solving.
