Data Scientist at Intuitive Surgical
My journey from semi-conductor electronics to data science was led by my interest in math, computer programming and an insatiable curiosity. I stumbled into data science by accident and fell in love with it instantly. Since then, I am past 50+ certifications, 15 projects, a Masters in Computer Science (currently defending thesis) ,a year of working as an AI Engineer and completed 650 hour intensive Data Science certificate from Springboard. As an AI Engineer at Afiniti, I realized that capturing trends on certain times of the year is especially hard due to lack of prior evidence e.g. christmas or superbowl. That motivated me to tackle this problem so I took part in the Kaggle competition for forecasting sales of Walmart stores with high weight to holiday times. The aim of this project was to predict the department wise weekly sales of 45 Walmart stores located across the US. I used an ensemble of 3 models (each with a different approach) to get the results. My solution puts me on the 4th place on the Kaggle leaderboard.
Choosing best location for Vet Clinic in the Bay Area

I used the Foursquare API to determine the best areas to open a vet clinic. I devised a custom heuristic that calculated a score for a region. The score was based on the ratio of the number of number of vets in the neighborhood and the number of pet facilities in the neighborhood like (dog parks, pet food stores etc.)
