Strategic AI Leader | Board Advisor | Speaker | Mentor
At Innovate UK, I lead our work developing and implementing innovation strategies focused on Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in order to deliver economic and societal impact for the UK. Working closely with industry, academia and governments, I work to identify and shape opportunities for business innovation with AI and data. At present, I manage over £100 million funding, spanning multiple sectors and areas such as security of AI, trustworthy AI and AI adoption including the flagship Innovate UK BridgeAI programme. I also sit on the Advisory Board for the UK Government All-Party Parliamentary Group on AI and the AI Collaboration Center as well as being a regular speaker at conferences. As a keen mentor, I take an active approach on diversity and inclusion throughout my work. NB: My general rule is to only connect with people here that I have engaged with in some way either in person, by phone or email.

Cultural Fit Analysis
The candidate's experience spans government innovation bodies, advisory boards, and non-profit organizations, indicating a diverse background and ability to work in various environments. Their involvement in promoting ethical AI and societal enrichment (RSA) suggests a value-driven approach. However, the current career trajectory is heavily focused on AI strategy and leadership, which is a significant pivot from a hands-on Frontend Developer role, potentially impacting cultural fit for a purely technical, implementation-focused team.
Soft Skills & Operational Fit
The candidate demonstrates strong leadership, strategic thinking, and advisory capabilities through their various roles at Innovate UK, AICC, and APPG AI. Their experience in establishing commercial partnerships and leading client engagements suggests strong communication and collaboration skills. However, the operational fit for a hands-on Frontend Developer role is not directly evident from recent experience.
