Coal Pilferage Detection- Video Analytics

The end objective is to train a binary classification model on the coal surfaces (extracted from the instance segmentation model) to differentiate between Untampered Coal Surface vis-à-vis Pilferage Surfaces. Developed video analytics capability for one of the top steels producing companies globally to help them derive insights from closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage of their coal transporting wagons. • Used Computer Vision algorithms to identify cases of coal pilferage along with level of severity (low/medium/high) for the purposes of client’s internal auditing and reporting to stakeholders. • Deployed an end-to-end model at a cloud server which takes direct inputs from CCTV cameras and flags the wagons corresponding to cases of pilferage, generating a report of all such cases. Also, built a novel MOPT (Moving Object Position Tracker) to track movements.
Engineering Data Digitization (EDD)

Engineering Data Digitization (EDD) is an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based automated process of digitizing engineering documents like P&ID’s, PFD’s, E&IC’s and Isometrics and integrating them to create a knowledge graph. This achieves digital orchestration between assets, processes, and systems, creating the foundation for Digital Twin. Primary role: Using computer vision techniques to convert Unstructured Documents & Siloed Data to Structured Data which leads to Advanced Asset Insights & Knowledge Graph. Techniques used- Tensorflow Object Detection Built deep learning models to extract text and symbols from engineering drawings. Lead the entire effort of symbol detection and achieved close to 100% accuracy. EDD got patented in October’19.

About the Client: Rank : Fortune 100 Size : 80,000+ employees Location : Atlanta, Georgia Industry : Food & Beverages Problem Context: Client had launched a loyalty reward redemption program, in which customers had to manually enter 14-character pin codes printed inside their purchased beverage’s bottle caps into a mobile device. Client wanted to eradicate this manual data entry process and aspired to enhance the end consumer experience by building a swift image scanning solution. Challenges: -Non-standard fonts on the bottle caps -Synthetic data generation for varying lighting, scales, rotations, tilts, modes -14^20 possible character combinations -Small model size needed to help fit on edge devices Solution: Developed a custom computer vision solution which enabled customers to easily scan their bottle cap on the mobile app, accurately processing the pin code with sub-second response time for both Android and iOS devices.
