I connect with people on LinkedIn who I have met professionally in person. I don't want to be contacted by (and won't respond to) 3rd party recruiters. I am also not open to relocation unless there are obscene piles of money involved.

In 2014 when my baby started eating solid foods I had the idea to make a web app where I could record what I gave her. I thought it would be a good way to learn some web development skills, and practice data analysis in a non-physics context. I got started on the project this year, and am using Django with HTML/CSS for the web app. The database is MySQL and the analysis is being written in Python. The project is on GitHub, if anyone thinks it sounds like fun and wants to join, let me know!

Cultural Fit Analysis
The candidate's career trajectory shows a strong inclination towards data-intensive roles, transitioning from academic physics research to data science and then machine learning engineering and management in prominent tech companies. The personal project 'Yumstat' demonstrates a genuine interest in applying data analysis skills to real-world problems. While the target role is 'Data Analyst', the candidate's experience is heavily skewed towards Machine Learning Engineering and management, which might indicate an overqualification or a mismatch in the expected day-to-day responsibilities for a typical Data Analyst role. The breadth of experience across different companies and roles suggests adaptability and a drive for continuous learning.
Soft Skills & Operational Fit
The candidate's experience leading a team of 40 scientists and supervising graduate students at Brandeis University, along with managing engineering teams at Spotify and Reddit, indicates strong leadership, mentorship, and collaboration skills. The description of the 'Yumstat' project also suggests initiative and a proactive approach to learning new technologies. The academic background in physics implies a rigorous, data-driven approach to problem-solving.
