ITS Rack Management System | Operational Process Automation
February 1, 2026 – Present
Over the past few weeks, I developed a simple but structured digital rack management system to improve how ITS numbers are stored and picked across multiple CAR locations within our CDH. Working in Returns as a Multi-Skilled Operative at John Lewis, I noticed that rack visibility and ITS tracking relied heavily on manual checking. This often meant: • Physically walking the racks to check availability • Limited real-time visibility • No structured pick logging • Risk of misplaced or hard-to-trace ITS To address this, I built a Google Form + Google Sheets integrated system that digitises the entire STORE and PICK workflow. 🔹 How It Works STORE Process User selects STORE in a simple Google Form Inputs ITS number, CAR location and racking The system automatically places the ITS into the correct rack column Live rack counts update instantly PICK Process User selects PICK in the form Inputs ITS number and reason The system locates the ITS across all CAR sheets Removes it from the rack Logs the pick for accountability 🔹 Key Features • Automated rack column stacking • Real-time rack count dashboard • Search functionality to instantly locate any ITS • Pick logging for traceability • Front-page operational summary view • Scalable across additional locations 🔹 Impact This tool improves: • Operational visibility • Speed of ITS retrieval • Reduction in manual rack checks • Accountability in movement tracking • Data-backed oversight for management Most importantly, it remains technophobe-friendly — requiring only a simple form submission from the user side. This project reinforced how small process automation, when aligned with operational needs, can significantly improve efficiency without requiring complex software systems. Always open to feedback and further optimisation ideas. #ProcessImprovement #Operations #WarehouseManagement #Automation #ContinuousImprovement #OperationalExcellence #GoogleSheets #DigitalTransformation

Cultural Fit Analysis
The candidate's project demonstrates initiative and a proactive approach to improving processes, which aligns with a culture of continuous improvement. Their background in logistics and supply chain analytics suggests an analytical mindset. However, the primary experience is in operational roles, and there is limited evidence of direct software engineering team collaboration or a deep understanding of software development methodologies, which might impact cultural fit within a typical software engineering team.
Soft Skills & Operational Fit
The candidate demonstrates strong problem-solving skills through the ITS Rack Management System project, identifying a real-world operational bottleneck and implementing a practical solution. Their experience in warehouse operations highlights attention to detail, process adherence, and efficiency. The project also suggests an ability to think about user-friendly solutions for non-technical staff. However, the current experience is heavily operational rather than software engineering focused.
