Start-up Advisor, Independent Board Member
For more than 25 years, I’ve been building and scaling platforms, engineering organizations, and cloud-native architectures at global scale — from Microsoft to RMS to Moody’s. I’ve had the privilege of leading transformations across SaaS, data, AI, and cloud, and of shaping teams that deliver durable, high‑impact technology. Most recently, I served as Chief Architect of Moody’s and GM of Platform Engineering, guiding enterprise architecture, accelerating cloud adoption, and enabling shared platform capabilities across the company. Before that, I led the architectural transformation of RMS into a SaaS company. Earlier in my career, I spent two decades at Microsoft, contributing to foundational cloud and data products including Power BI, Azure ML, Azure Databricks, and the Azure Marketplace, as well as leading Microsoft Consulting Services in the Netherlands through sustained double‑digit growth. As of March 2026, I’ve stepped away from full‑time operational leadership to focus on a more selective portfolio of work. Today, I serve as: • Start‑up Advisor — helping early‑stage teams navigate platform strategy, architecture, and go‑to‑market for intelligent cloud products • Independent Board Member — supporting companies that are scaling technology, engineering culture, and product strategy • Strategic Consultant — partnering with organizations on cloud architecture, SaaS transformation, and platform engineering initiatives I’m energized by teams building the next generation of intelligent platforms — especially where cloud, data, and AI intersect to create new business models and durable competitive advantage. If you’re working on something ambitious and think my experience could help, I’m always open to a conversation.

Cultural Fit Analysis
The candidate has a long history with large, established corporations like Microsoft and Moody's, holding senior leadership and architectural roles. While their advisory role with startups indicates some exposure to different environments, the overall profile leans heavily towards structured, enterprise-level organizations. This might require careful consideration for roles in highly agile, rapidly scaling startup environments, though their experience in driving transformation within large companies is valuable. The target role of 'Backend Engineer' seems misaligned with their extensive leadership and architectural experience; they appear overqualified for a pure individual contributor backend role, suggesting a potential mismatch in expectations or a desire for a significant career shift.
Soft Skills & Operational Fit
The candidate's extensive experience in leadership, managing large engineering teams, and driving strategic initiatives suggests strong soft skills in leadership, communication, and strategic planning. Their roles as Chief Architect and General Manager indicate operational fit for high-level technical and organizational responsibilities. The advisory role also points to mentorship and strategic guidance capabilities.
