Clean Harbors employs many seasonal employees – those employees are typically associated with oil field operations in western Canada that are fully operational only during the winter months of each year. During the remainder of the year, the employees return to their homes or pursue other jobs. There is a large turnover in these employees - a number of these employees do not return to seasonal work for Clean Harbors during the next season. Because these employees have valuable skills including specialized training and certification; and the costs of recruiting, starting up, and training of new employees can be very high, Clean Harbors has decided to develop Resource Managers, ERMS Specialists, and supporting systems that are designed to achieve a much higher retention rate of these seasonal employees. The overall strategy for the Employee Resource Management System program is to provide a phased delivery of a comprehensive system to integrate and maintain employee information for Tracked employees. The goal is to improve retention rates for these Tracked workers by addressing their “Satisfiers”.
