Bird Call Identification

The aim was to develop a bird call identification technique which recognizes a bird based on the audio features of its call.Used jAudio, a set of digital signal processing libraries for extracting audio features into an ARRF file.Applied Class imbalance removal, Data normalization and Dimensionality reduction for data pre-processing.Used Decision Tree Classifier and Naïve Bayesian Classifier for model training and classification. Challenge: To obtain high accuracy and at the same time keeping the whole tool lightweight so that it could be developed into a standalone smartphone application which does not require any type connectivity to server and entire processing is done on the phone itself Achievement : Experimentally achieved the highest accuracy of 91.61% with total memory consumption of 102.1 MB and CPU Time of 7.6 seconds.Awarded the highest attainable grade – ‘A’ by the B. Tech Project Committee for the success of the project
