Hi! I'm Engineering Manager with background in AI, based on Portugal. I have a total of 16 years of experience building AI based software. First as an individual contributor, then as an Engineering Manager on teams developing AI based solutions. Being cable of creating AI based products, moving them to production and scale when needed is one of the skills that I'm most proudest of myself. I'm looking forward to keep help building AI focused teams that are able to deliver in a fast and iterative way.

Since 2012 I have developed an image resizing and manipulation service - https://rethumb.com This service is developed in PHP (v7 + Laravel), Go, MariaDB, nginx (load balancer and HTTP Server), PHP-FPM, RabbitMQ, Redis and docker for infrastructure deployment. It uses AWS Simple Storage service for object storage with fail-over to other services (Dreamhost Objects, DigitalOcean Spaces and Backblaze B2). Monitoring scripts are in Python and maintenance tasks are Node.js and Bash. Payments are processed by Braintree. Production environment is Linux and it is running on Hetzner VPS’s and other cloud providers. All development is done by myself: API, website, frontoffice, and backoffice. The main motivation behind this project is for me to learn about scalability and infrastructure. I now feel more confidence on how to scale systems horizontally and how to use tools like docker and third-party service providers.
