AI/ML Engineer
I have spent time working on, researching the following topics and have each taught me something about the nature of the current AI platform humanity is building: Computer Vision, Contrastive Learning, Unsupervised Learning, Tabular data, GANs, AutoEncoders, Reinforcement Learning, Domain Adaptation, Neural Radiance Fields, Edge Detection, Continuous Image Coordinates, Representation Learning, Fourier Transformation Layers, Time Series Forecasting and I read papers daily on anything that sounds novel or related to any research threads I follow. Mainly using PyTorch currently, but will sometimes use Tensorflow 2.x. I also enjoy experimenting with custom architectures and loss functions as I build an intuitive understanding of how a data distribution behaves in response. Visualizing the behavior of networks by using various network statistics collected during training and using tools such as comet.ml is my general strategy for this. T-SNE plots of representations and layer-wise statistical histogram or other aggregation methods have been my recent ways of peering into the inner workings of the dynamics of a network being trained under some specific conditions. I of course also greatly value the starting points that others give through open source implementations and papers, which I can generally implement or work the salient aspects into an existing model. I am used to working on remote machines and fully understand how the cloud is used to distribute the entire pipeline of an application which utilizes ML models. I've done many years of web development work in the past and thus understand how the surrounding elements interact.

Streamlit Frontend UI for Luigi Data Pipelines
August 1, 2020 – September 1, 2020
Streamlit (Aug/Sept 2020 version) app that provides a web interface for interacting with Luigi tasks - otherwise the command line must be used and it isn't very clear which tasks will execute in a pipeline. This scans a directory for python files and then reads the metadata to build a list of classes that implement Luigi tasks. After selecting a task, the status is displayed for the entire chain of tasks, solving the issue of having to remember or figure out which tasks are related. Tasks that need to be run can also executed through the web UI with real time streaming of the output text. Tasks that are complete allow for viewing the output from within the web UI. Also has its own internal tracking of activity.

Cultural Fit Analysis
The candidate has a diverse professional background spanning various companies and roles, from software development to specialized ML research and consulting. The personal projects demonstrate a proactive and continuous learning mindset. The experience in both established companies and freelance/contract roles suggests adaptability. The target role of ML Engineer aligns well with the candidate's recent and significant experience in Machine Learning, Deep Learning, and data science. However, the breadth of earlier non-ML specific software development roles might indicate a broader interest beyond pure ML, which could be a strength for cross-functional teams but also a potential distraction from deep ML focus if not managed. The lack of specific cultural fit assessment data limits a deeper analysis.
Soft Skills & Operational Fit
The candidate's experience as a Lead Software Engineer and Head of Machine Learning suggests leadership and project management capabilities. Descriptions of client communication and mentoring indicate strong interpersonal skills. The diverse project experience, including personal projects, points to initiative and problem-solving abilities. However, without specific psychometric or communication test results, a definitive assessment of soft skills and operational fit is limited.
