VP Engineering | 2x CTO | Mental Health AI
My first job was running a computer lab at a psychology institute. I was sixteen. I didn't know it then, but that intersection—technology and the mind—would become my life's work. Three decades later, I've built systems and AI platforms that have served millions of users, led engineering organizations through acquisitions, and helped take companies from zero to IPO. But the work that keeps me up at night is different: How do we build planetary-scale systems that actually help people heal? Mental health is the defining crisis of our time. 1 billion people worldwide suffer from mental health conditions. Most will never access effective care. The real opportunity isn't chatbots or symptom checkers. It's building intelligent systems that bring neuroscience and psychology into the therapeutic relationship, making every session more effective, every intervention more precise. That's what I'm building at SonderMind, where I lead Software and AI Engineering. Before this, I was CTO at Mindstrong (acquired by SonderMind), where we pioneered digital biomarkers for mental health, and CTO at Lumiata, where we built AI models predicting 100+ medical conditions as well as cost from claims data. What I bring: the ability to build and scale engineering teams from zero, a track record of shipping AI products in regulated healthcare environments, and an obsession with turning research into systems that work at scale.

Cultural Fit Analysis
The candidate's diverse experience across various companies, from startups to large enterprises (Microsoft, Intel, Verizon), and their current role as a consultant, suggests adaptability and a broad perspective. Their involvement in incubating product ideas and securing patents indicates an innovative and entrepreneurial mindset. The focus on AI, ML, and data products aligns well with a forward-thinking, data-driven culture. However, the candidate's experience is heavily skewed towards leadership and management, with less recent hands-on Big Data engineering specific to the target role, which might require a cultural adjustment to a more individual contributor focus if that is the expectation.
Soft Skills & Operational Fit
The candidate demonstrates strong leadership, strategic thinking, and a clear ability to drive organizational and technical transformations. Their experience in building and leading high-performing teams, coupled with a focus on accountability and agile methodologies, indicates a strong operational fit. The descriptions highlight problem-solving, innovation, and a hands-on approach to complex technical challenges.
