Ph.D. at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL)
I am now a fifth-year Ph.D. student in the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory under the supervision of Prof. Boi Faltings (AAAI Fellow) in École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL). My research now focuses on developing machine learning models for continually learning new knowledge in changing environments with limited observations. The main applications involve recommendation systems and task-oriented dialog systems (NLP). Prior to that, I finished my MPhil and Undergraduate at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) under the supervision of Prof. Dit-Yan Yeung (Dean). My research works on machine learning models for MOOC data analysis are seminal in this field and ground a $5million joint grant with MIT titled "A Personalized E-Learning Platform" through HKUST-MIT Research Alliance Consortium. During my undergraduate study, I also finished with a minor degree in general business. Therefore, My mixed background of Machine Learning and Finance has also equipped me with the skill-sets to work with Fintech or Quant industries.

Hellogue
January 1, 2012 – Present
Hellogue connects people. Hellogue brings the term "social networking" back to its literal meaning. Hellogue is catering the human needs for "face-to-face" meeting instead of "over-the-internet" interaction. Now you shouldn't be worried about having your dinner alone. This is a course project from HKUST CSE Department course: Software Engineering (Honors Study Track).
Cultural Fit Analysis
The candidate's academic and research-heavy background, including roles at universities and a research-focused internship, indicates a strong fit for environments that value deep technical exploration and innovation. The 'Hellogue' project, while a course project, shows an interest in social impact. However, the target role of 'Data Analyst' might not fully align with the candidate's demonstrated deep research focus in AI/ML, potentially indicating a mismatch in day-to-day responsibilities and career aspirations if the role is purely analytical without a strong research component. The breadth of skills is heavily skewed towards AI/ML research rather than general data analysis tools and methodologies.
Soft Skills & Operational Fit
The candidate's experience as a Visiting Scholar and Doctor Assistant, along with teaching assistant roles, suggests strong analytical, problem-solving, and potentially collaborative skills. The project description for 'Hellogue' indicates an interest in social interaction and problem-solving, though specific operational fit details are limited without further assessment.
