Principal Scientist, Data Science - AI/ML at Dewpoint Therapeutics
Prior to my work at Dewpoint, I worked at Prime Medicine, Inc. and Janssen R&D. At Janssen, I worked as a principal imaging scientist within the Oncology Data Sciences group. My work was part of a collaborative effort to identify ways in which advances in deep learning can be combined with oncology-related medical imaging data of all types. This involved working with our own internal computer vision capabilities as well as collaborating with external partners in order to make progress toward our goal of helping patients. Prior to working at Janssen, I was the senior machine learning scientist at Neon Therapeutics (now part of BioNTech) where we utilized concepts from deep learning to guide the design of our neoantigen-based, personalized cancer treatments. As part of this effort, I worked on the CNN-based HLA-II binding predictor, neonmch2 (https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S1074761319303632). In 2015, I completed my Ph.D., working in theoretical astrophysics and cosmology. My research focused on understanding the state of the Universe when it was less than 10% of its current age, coinciding with the formation of the first galaxies. Toward this end, I developed methods of analyzing complementary data sets in order to gain additional insight on how and when this process occurred.

Cultural Fit Analysis
The candidate's career trajectory shows a strong focus on advanced data science and machine learning, particularly in the biotech/pharma sector. While the target role is 'Data Analyst', the candidate's experience is significantly more advanced, leaning towards 'Data Scientist' or 'Machine Learning Engineer'. This might indicate a potential mismatch in role expectations or a desire to transition. The diversity of companies suggests adaptability, but the lack of specific project details makes it hard to assess alignment with a typical Data Analyst role's day-to-day tasks.
Soft Skills & Operational Fit
The candidate's progression through senior and principal roles suggests strong problem-solving, analytical thinking, and potentially leadership skills. However, without specific project details or behavioral assessment data, it is difficult to fully assess operational fit and soft skills like teamwork or communication.
