Global Managed Services Transition - (Trailblazer)
November 1, 2023 – June 1, 2025
Ontex designed and executed a comprehensive Global IT Sourcing Strategy for Infrastructure & Operations. The initiative aimed to modernize delivery, increase resilience, and align IT cost structures with business dynamics by transitioning from internally operated services to managed service models. The project evaluated “make vs. buy” scenarios, considering both retention of in-house capabilities and outsourcing to specialised service providers, with the latter ultimately selected as the most scalable and value-creating model. Independent sourcing specialists supported the RFP evaluation, confirming market competitiveness and “best value for money” from the selected partners. Key challenges addressed included plant automation integration, North America coverage, and stretching legacy support boundaries, as well as managing CAPEX-to-OPEX transition. Success depended on close collaboration between IT Infrastructure & Operations, Cybersecurity, Finance/Controlling, HR, Legal, Procurement, and external partners. The project combined internal expertise with specialist knowledge in sourcing, transformation, and service transition, ensuring controlled risk management and continuity of mission-critical production and business systems. Results include a more flexible cost base, improved scalability, clearer service accountability, and measurable cost avoidance, supported by competitive market benchmarks and validated pricing models.
