Fractional Chief AI Officer | Embedded with mid-market leadership teams to make AI part of how work gets done.
I'm a fractional Chief AI Officer. I work as a part-time fully embedded leader for small-to-mid-market companies that want AI to be a reliable part of how work gets done rather than an expensive novelty. Most companies have tried AI. Few are getting real value from it. The reason is rarely the model. It is almost always the workflow around the model, the data feeding it, or the ownership inside the company for making AI capability actually stick. A few beliefs that shape how I work with teams: - Buying AI tools is not buying AI capability - The real work is workflow redesign and AI proficiency, not prompt engineering - Embedded leadership produces different outcomes than external advice from those with no accountability Background: co-founder and former CEO of Sentry Enterprises, a deep tech startup building digital identity and decentralized finance products. 13 years leading engineering at CME Group, including running technology operations across Europe and Asia with teams in Belfast, Singapore, India, Argentina, Chicago and London. 10+ years in the U.S. Air Force and defense industry prior to that. I personally led the integration of AI across Sentry's engineering organization and have been hands-on with AI tooling since the original GPT betas. Two pilot platforms I designed and built to commercial grade along the way: DexTrader (trading systems) and RelayNet (AI network communications). Both taught me as much about market timing as about technology. The combination of hardware-software integration, high-consequence trading systems and high-reliability infrastructure shaped how I think about agentic AI. The model is usually the easy part. The verification and discipline around the system are what decide whether the work is trustworthy. I host AI in the Lab, a live build series on LinkedIn Live showing the full orchestration of complex AI builds. If yo

Cultural Fit Analysis
The candidate's career trajectory shows a strong entrepreneurial spirit, having founded multiple companies and held fractional C-level roles. Their involvement in diverse areas like AI advisory, Web3 payments, and biometric security indicates adaptability and a broad interest in emerging technologies. The long tenure at CME Group, progressing through various leadership roles, suggests loyalty and an ability to thrive in large corporate environments, while their subsequent startup ventures highlight a preference for innovation and impact. The 'Member of Abundance360' and 'Advisory Board Member' roles suggest a commitment to continuous learning and contributing to broader technological advancements. However, the target role 'Software Engineer' seems misaligned with the candidate's extensive executive and strategic leadership experience, which might indicate a potential cultural mismatch if the role is purely hands-on coding.
Soft Skills & Operational Fit
The candidate demonstrates strong leadership, strategic planning, and change management skills through their extensive executive roles. Their experience in building and leading international teams, negotiating with stakeholders, and driving significant cost savings indicates robust operational capabilities and a results-oriented approach. The descriptions highlight an ability to transform organizations and improve product quality, suggesting strong problem-solving and team-building soft skills. The focus on 'high-consequence engineering' implies a meticulous and disciplined operational fit.
