Evaluation of Sources of Error in On-Road Emissions Measurements of Light Duty Vehicles
September 1, 2016 – December 1, 2016
On-road passenger vehicle testing of a commercially available portable emissions measurement system (PEMS) in order to evaluate measurement uncertainty and error. The relative impact of operational parameters as well as ambient conditions was quantified in real world conditions. Relative accuracy and repeatability of the results were determined by comparison to a chassis dynamometer.
Diesel NOx Reduction Using the Maisotsenko Cycle
May 1, 2013 – Present
Under contract to the So Cal Gas Comapny, developed an innovative new application for the Maisotsenko Cycle. Optimized the Maisotsenko Cycle in order to generate a stream of saturated humid air. This humid air was directed into the intake of a standard reciprocating diesel engine to reduce NOx by approx. 17%. The diesel engine required no modification to operate with the Maisotsenko Cycle. In addition, the bolt-on system was low in cost and used only water as the input.

Cultural Fit Analysis
The candidate's project history, while technically sound, is heavily focused on mechanical and environmental engineering, with a strong emphasis on automotive and emissions testing. While there's mention of 'Data Analyst' as a target role, the projects and experience lean more towards systems engineering, test engineering, and validation rather than pure data analysis in a broader business context. The 'Environmental Council for Transportation' project shows initiative in business design and market analysis, but lacks explicit data analysis tools or methodologies. The 'Diesel NOx Reduction' and 'Evaluation of Sources of Error' projects demonstrate strong analytical thinking but are domain-specific. The cultural fit for a general Data Analyst role might require a pivot from their current domain expertise, but their analytical rigor is undeniable.
Soft Skills & Operational Fit
The candidate's experience descriptions highlight collaboration with design engineers, leading validation efforts, communicating requirements, and presenting findings to various audiences, suggesting strong communication and teamwork skills. Project management experience (PMP certification) indicates organizational and leadership capabilities. The diverse roles across different companies (Volkswagen, Nuro, Rivian) suggest adaptability and a proactive approach to process improvement.
