Applied Research Scientist at MILA | Ph.D. in Computer Vision (2D/3D Scene Understanding) | Ex. AI/ML @ Waymo, PlusAI
I am a Senior Research Engineer in Prediction/Planning at PlusAI. I received my Ph.D. in 2025 from the Center for Research in Computer Vision at the University of Central Florida (UCF), advised by Prof. Mubarak Shah. My research focuses on 2D/3D scene understanding, including detection, segmentation, and tracking across camera and LiDAR data. My recent work also explores equivariant representation learning for diffusion models and vision-language modeling for 3D visual grounding. During my internship at Waymo, I worked on multimodal self-supervised temporal representation learning in Bird’s-Eye View (BEV), contributing to key downstream tasks such as occupancy prediction, semantic segmentation, and object detection, with this work filed for patent review. I have served as a reviewer for NeurIPS, ICCV, WACV, and IROS, and I am a recipient of the UCF Graduate Dean’s Dissertation Completion Fellowship and the ORC Fellowship. I have also mentored students through the NSF-funded Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program.

Cultural Fit Analysis
The candidate's background is heavily skewed towards research and backend/AI/ML engineering, with a strong academic focus. The target role is 'Frontend Developer'. While there is some mention of 'UX design and development' and 'web templates' in earlier roles, the recent and significant experience is not aligned with a dedicated frontend position. This suggests a potential mismatch in cultural fit for a pure frontend development team, as their primary interests and expertise lie elsewhere. The diversity of projects is high, but the relevance to the target role is low.
Soft Skills & Operational Fit
The candidate's resume indicates experience in mentoring and teaching, suggesting good communication and leadership potential. Participation in research projects and publications demonstrates problem-solving and analytical skills. However, specific soft skills for a Frontend Developer role, such as collaboration within a dedicated frontend team or user empathy in UI/UX design, are not explicitly detailed.
