John Cummings

John W. Cummings is Managing Director, Chief Operating Officer* at Texas Capital and is also a member of the firm’s Operating Council. He has direct responsibility for Texas Capital’s Retail Branches, Operations, Corporate Real Estate, Corporate Security, Community Development, Marketing, Events and Communications functions. John joined Texas Capital in January 2022 and previously served as the firm’s Chief Administrative Officer. Prior to joining Texas Capital, he spent nine years at Citigroup Inc., serving most recently as head of its Wealth Advisory business, working with high-net-worth banking consumers across the U.S. and Latin America. He was also a member of the U.S. Consumer Management Committee. Prior, John served as Chief Operating Officer and Head of U.S. Investment Products for Citigroup Personal Wealth Management. Before Citigroup, he was with Merrill Lynch & Co. for 25 years, where he began his career as an entry-level trainee and then advanced through assignments within National Sales, Finance, Corporate Services and Global Technology & Operations before his election as a member of the Global Executive Management Committee reporting to the CEO of Merrill Lynch & Company. In his last role with Merrill Lynch, he served as Chief Operating Officer of the Global Private Client Group and Head of the Retirement, Trust Company, Clearing and Merrill Edge Digital Investments businesses. While at Merrill Lynch, John led the reengineering effort that radically improved quality and delivered a 500-basis point improvement in the Merrill Lynch & Co. efficiency ratio, while overseeing recovery from the events of 9/11 and delivering a globally resilient technology infrastructure.
