NLU Software Engineer, Team Lead
I am an NLP software engineer focused in Health IT with a solid background in mathematics research and algorithm development. I've worked on projects developing and optimizing NLP pipelines, incorporating them into enterprise web applications to perform tasks such as medical evidence extraction from clinical text, document geolocation, Tweet topic classification and sentiment analysis. I've used my graph theory knowledge and the graph database software Neo4j to analyze @mention connectivity between Twitter users. Outside of work, I love to learn new programming skills, as well as new developments in applied mathematics. I also contribute to the Apache cTAKES community. My greatest strength is my ability to solve problems no matter the language, and identify and learn what background knowledge I require to solve them. I thrive in a fast-paced, team environment.

Cultural Fit Analysis
The candidate has a strong background in academic research and open-source contributions (Apache cTAKES), which suggests a collaborative and knowledge-sharing mindset. The transition from academic roles to industry NLP engineering, including a team lead position, indicates adaptability and growth. However, the project diversity is somewhat limited to NLP/NLU, and the education background is heavily mathematics-focused with later computer science studies, which might require assessing their broader software engineering practices beyond NLP.
Soft Skills & Operational Fit
The candidate's experience as a Team Lead and Graduate Teaching Assistant suggests strong communication, leadership, and mentoring skills. Contributions to open-source projects and participation in research groups indicate a collaborative and proactive work attitude. The detailed descriptions of project contributions highlight problem-solving and analytical capabilities.
