Number of segments was chosen by silhouette analysis. Reduced dimensionality with PCA to visualize the customer segments in a human-interpretable format.
Dog Breed Image Classifier

Built a convolutional neural network with Keras (powered by a Tensorflow backend) to identify dogs in photos and predict their breed. Training was augmented via transfer learning using the weights from Google’s InceptionV3 architecture; all convolutional layers were frozen while the top model was trained locally. Achieved an accuracy of 79% correct breed identification on the test set.

Aquanix develops innovative nature-inspired materials for water-collection applications. Aquanix’s first product is a humidity filter which decreases the energy load on industrial HVAC units for dehumidifying input air. - Met with local potential customers to validate our hypothesis and better understand their problem. - Created interest from two local universities who would like to pilot our technology in their laboratory buildings on campus. - Researched potential solutions, using nature as a case study, and developed a procedure for the small-scale manufacturing of our technology. This company was founded as part of the NC State Engineering Entrepreneurs Program. This project stands in place of a traditional "senior design" project.
