Applied Science Manager III at Amazon
I am currently leading the Modeling, Assessment, and Risk team in Amazon’s Sustainability Science and Innovation org, where we combine environmental modeling with ML modeling to reinvent how impact is measured. We own scaling processes for systematically evaluating the environmental and social impacts (carbon, water, fair wages, etc.) of consuming products and services offered by Amazon. We apply our expertise in sustainability assessment methodologies to help businesses build mechanisms to measure their impact on the environment and mitigate these impacts on behalf of the customer. This work serves as a foundation for our goal of quantifying the environmental footprint of our customers and work with businesses to enable customers to be more sustainable. For the 7 years previous, I worked on the Customer Engagement Tech Machine Learning team at Amazon, using NLP to help customize the user's experience. By anticipating the customer's needs, we reduced customer effort while at the same time reducing cost. Our efforts tackled many of the leading issues in NLP, including summarization, text classification, information extraction, and sentiment analysis to name a few. We combined state-of-the art tech with homegrown ingenuity as we develop and apply solutions to use cases all over the globe.
