Control System for FRC Robot
January 1, 2016 – March 1, 2016
Wrote control code in mostly Java and some C++ for a robot to play the 2016 FRC game. This included writing feedback loops to control physical systems and writing algorithms to control the robot autonomously. Also created an Android app in Java which used filtering methods to recognize a retroflective target and relay information to robot.
Cultural Fit Analysis
The candidate has a diverse background, including co-founding startups and leading academic initiatives. Their involvement in the FRC Robot project and the Amazon Alexa Prize Team demonstrates a collaborative and innovative spirit. The experience as an instructor also suggests a willingness to share knowledge and contribute to a learning environment. The entrepreneurial background aligns with a dynamic, fast-paced culture. However, the target role is ML Engineer, and while the candidate has relevant experience, the recent co-founder roles might indicate a preference for broader responsibilities than a purely engineering role.
Soft Skills & Operational Fit
The candidate's experience as a Co-Founder and Founding Engineer suggests strong initiative, leadership, and problem-solving skills. Their role as an Education Officer at Machine Learning at Berkeley indicates communication and mentorship abilities. However, without specific psychometric test results, a detailed assessment of work attitude, stress handling, and team collaboration is not possible.
