Leading Olmo Scaling @ Ai2 | Cofounder @ Envive AI
I build open language models at Allen Institute for AI (Ai2). I lead the scaling team, focusing on building and scaling the Olmo models. Olmo aims to build "state-of-the-art", "truly-open" LLMs to narrow the gap between open and proprietary research. I spent the time from early 2023 to early 2026 in startup land. I co-founded Envive.ai doing post-training and RL for eCommerce. We took it from zero to tens of millions of funding, many customers, a lot of revenue, and AI tech that scales to orders of magnitude more. I received my PhD in Computer Science from the University of Texas at Austin, working with Ray Mooney and Katrin Erk. Email address: iz@beltagy.net Personal Webpage: beltagy.net

Cultural Fit Analysis
The candidate's background is heavily skewed towards research and academic environments, with a strong focus on AI/ML and LLMs. While this demonstrates deep technical expertise, the target role of 'Data Analyst' might not fully leverage their advanced research capabilities. The diversity of projects is primarily within the AI/ML domain, which may indicate a specialized focus rather than broad data analysis experience. The transition from a Chief Scientist/Lead Research Scientist to a Data Analyst role requires careful consideration of career aspirations and alignment with the company's needs for a data analyst.
Soft Skills & Operational Fit
The candidate's extensive experience in research and leadership roles suggests strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and potentially good communication skills, especially in technical contexts. The co-founder role indicates entrepreneurial drive and initiative. However, specific data on collaboration, stress handling, or work attitude is not available from the provided assessment scores.
