Enhancement of Patch Antenna Performance using Dilelectric Lens
January 1, 2016 – May 1, 2016
Radar system requires high resolution performance to differentiate between two very closely placed targets. Every radar has a radome which will protect the antenna from the environmental hazards. The radome, if designed to be in the hemispherical lens shape, can be used for dual function, that is, it can protect the antenna from environmental hazards and it can also help in the improvisation of the antenna performance like gain and angular resolution. Most of the radars use patch antenna as a basic element for radiation due to their low profile, lightweight, high gain and simple structural properties. To begin with, we have designed and tested a basic patch antenna using CST MWS. Also, a dielectric lens is designed and tested using in-house facilities. Next, the patch antenna was integrated with the lens to augment its performance. A comparison of patch antenna performance was made between “with and without lens”. The results show considerable improvement in gain and reduction in beam width (Hence, improvement in angular resolution) of the patch with lens. Further, we extended the concept to patch array. The simulation results show the same improvement for the array performance. Finally, the pros and cons of using dielectric lens on an array as replacement to radome is discussed and future scope of the work has been suggested.

Cultural Fit Analysis
The candidate's project experience includes robotics and antenna performance, which are not directly aligned with a Frontend Developer role, indicating a diverse but potentially unfocused interest. The professional experience at Torry Harris Integration Solutions shows consistent growth in software engineering roles with relevant frontend skills. However, recent roles at Palo Alto Networks (future), Lassen Peak (internship), Possible (fellow), and Santa Clara University (TA, RA, Front of House Manager) are either future-dated, internships, or non-software engineering roles, which makes it difficult to assess recent, direct cultural fit for a senior Frontend Developer role in a typical tech company. The breadth of roles suggests adaptability but also a potential lack of sustained focus on a specific domain in recent years.
Soft Skills & Operational Fit
The candidate's resume highlights roles involving leadership (Led end-to-end delivery), product presentations, and problem-solving. The Teaching Assistant and Front of House Manager roles suggest communication and organizational skills. However, without psychometric test results, a definitive assessment of stress handling, work attitude, and team collaboration is not possible.
