AI Research Lead / Bell Labs Distinguished Member of Technical Staff (DMTS), at Nokia Technologies
I'm leading the research activities on neural networks and artificial intelligence of Nokia Technologies. Some of my strengths have been in: - Building and growing AI teams. - Ramping up AI research projects. - Leading AI research projects. Current research projects include: - AI-based image and video compression - Compression of videos for computer vision tasks (video coding for machines) - Parameter-efficient finetuning - Compression of neural networks - Image filtering and enhancement In the past, I've been working on topics such as predicting future video frames, object tracking, evaluation of generative models, image inpainting, person re-identification. Currently, I am also a Nokia delegate to the Joint Video Expert Team (JVET) and MPEG standardization activities on neural network based video coding, video coding for machines, and compression of neural networks. I have been contributing significantly to the VSEI v3 and v4 standards (for AI-related topics) and to the MPEG NNR standard. I've been nominated as one of the top Nokia inventors for several years, with 160+ filed patent applications and 30+ granted patents. More in general, I'm a passionate deep learning and artificial intelligence researcher, with application areas in computer vision and image/video analysis. My research interests include: - Unsupervised learning - Generative models - Language models - Meta-learning - Zero and few shots learning - Metric learning

Cultural Fit Analysis
The candidate has a long and consistent career path within Nokia and academia, demonstrating loyalty and a focus on deep research. Their background is heavily skewed towards research and development in AI/ML, particularly in multimedia. While this indicates a strong technical foundation, the target role of 'Data Analyst' might not fully align with their deep research profile. The lack of diverse project experience outside of core R&D, and the absence of explicit data analysis tools or methodologies in their resume, suggests a potential mismatch for a typical data analyst role which often requires more direct business application, dashboarding, and SQL/BI tool proficiency. Their experience is more aligned with a Data Scientist or Machine Learning Engineer role.
Soft Skills & Operational Fit
The candidate's extensive experience in leading research activities and supervising students suggests strong leadership, mentorship, and collaboration skills. Their involvement in standardization activities (JVET) indicates an ability to work within structured frameworks and contribute to industry standards. The detailed descriptions of research projects demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. However, without specific psychometric test results, a full assessment of work attitude, stress handling, and team collaboration is not possible.
