Principal Engineer - Engineering Productivity, AI Systems & Developer Platforms | Driving DevEx Transformation in Regulated Environments
I work directly on how organisations adopt AI-driven ways of building software. My focus is on redesigning how engineering works - across ways of working, governance, and tooling - so teams can move faster without losing control. Most of my recent work sits at the intersection of engineering productivity, AI, and developer systems - identifying where delivery slows down, and building systems that remove friction without compromising governance. I’ve worked on platforms that make engineering practices visible and measurable across teams, and more recently on systems that use AI to automate parts of the software delivery lifecycle - particularly in areas like change management, where process has traditionally been a bottleneck. A recurring theme in my work is shifting things left: • making expectations explicit earlier • embedding controls directly into workflows • using real data (not assumptions) to guide improvement Alongside the systems themselves, I’ve been involved in evolving ways of working - moving toward tighter feedback loops, prototype-first development, and closer integration between engineering, product, and design. Earlier in my career I worked in strategy and product roles, and I still approach problems through that lens: define the problem clearly, build the smallest thing that proves value, and iterate based on real usage. I’m commercially minded and customer-focused, and tend to prioritise outcomes over technical elegance where it matters. I’m particularly interested in: • developer experience and internal platforms • AI-assisted software development • engineering systems at scale • helping organisations modernise how they build and ship software

Cultural Fit Analysis
The candidate's diverse experience across consulting, finance, and startups, including co-founding a company, suggests adaptability and a proactive approach. Their recent focus on AI acceleration and platform engineering aligns well with an innovative, fast-paced environment. However, the target role 'Founding AI Applications' implies a very early-stage, hands-on coding role, which might be a slight mismatch with their recent principal engineer and leadership roles that lean more towards strategy and enablement rather than direct application development from scratch. While they have strong AI and data experience, the depth of hands-on coding for a founding role needs further validation.
Soft Skills & Operational Fit
The candidate's experience in leading teams, collaborating with CTOs, and driving organizational change indicates strong leadership, communication, and strategic thinking. Their involvement in defining standards and improving engineering practices suggests a focus on operational excellence and process improvement. The co-founder experience highlights initiative and a results-oriented mindset.
