Decision Makers TV
August 1, 2012 – May 1, 2013
I conceived, developed and produced Decision Makers TV as a proof of concept for the leadership team at World Travel Market (WTM). The site profiles senior "C-Level" executives from the travel industry on camera. It's been incredibly well received by the marketplace and interview spots are completely full. I developed this service to demonstrate the power and capability of WTM's existing brand and to showcase a number of sales, business development and customer insight techniques.
Boothchat for Exhibitions
February 1, 2012 – May 1, 2013
After closely observing many of Reed Exhibitions' big shows, I theorised that it would be possible to establish a booth camera system and process that would enable attendees to offer their opinions for 60 seconds, directly to camera -- and that these opinions could a) be sponsored and b) exploited immediately as live social media content during the show week. I recruited the team at Boothchat to deliver a proof of concept at one of RX's flagship European security events, InfoSecurity Europe 2012. The theory was a resounding success. Sponsors jumped on board immediately (contributing to the show's bottom line), attendees loved participating and the service contributed significantly to the show's social media output.
Exhibition Video Testimonials System
January 1, 2012 – May 1, 2013
A key challenge during exhibitions is to obtain good quality testimonials. The standard methodology involves customers taking lots of time out of their busy show days to author written testimonials. I was looking for a way to dramatically boost the quantity and quality of testimonials and happened upon the concept of using video interviews as a medium. This in itself isn't new -- many show promotional videos include the odd testimonial -- however I developed a filming rig consisting on an iPhone, Monopod and top quality iPhone-compatible microphone, to obtain the testimonials. This allowed a hugely nimble approach to obtaining feedback -- plus it was not at all invasive or offputting (compared to a huge camera). The net result? Hundreds of testimonial interviews for the first pilot show (instead of perhaps 5-10 quality written contributions). I developed a simple, elegant end-to-end system for obtaining, reviewing, editing and collating the resulting videos. Now it's possible for normal team members to obtain high quality testimonials easily.

iPhone & iPad Pilot
June 1, 2010 – January 1, 2011
With iPads entirely new to the enterprise (and iPhones only recently equipped with enterprise-grade security capabilities), I was charged with running an iPhone and iPad pilot across the Reed Exhibitions business. I wrote the terms of reference, established the criteria for success, purchased and setup the test equipment and created the training and user on-board procedures. I worked personally with a number of senior executives to help introduce the concept of tablet computing and coached them across the pilot to help them obtain best results. In addition I was responsible for managing the board level pilot to introduce and support their specific requirements. Security was a key concern and therefore I worked closely with the RX security team along with third-party support from both Reed Elsevier (parent company) and Apple's enterprise team to ensure we delivered a pilot that met all required expectations. The result of the pilot was the successful approval of both iPads and iPhones for business use at the company. The pilot also explored mobile device management (MDM) and BYOD issues.
