Senior Applied Scientist
Currently I am a Senior NLP Data Scientist working remotely for Vacouver-based SkyHive. My last job was a PitchBook Data where I worked on extracting useful information for news articles. Previously I worked at Microsoft in the Office division on proofing tools and information extraction. Before that, I worked at Janya where I developed systems for multilingual information extraction and sentiment analysis, with an emphasis on low-resource languages. Before that, I wrote a program applying statistical techniques to traditional transfer-based translation as well as a Chinese/English translation system built on top of the program. I am fluent in written (traditional and simplified characters) and spoken Mandarin Chinese and I have an HSK Certificate of Chinese Proficiency at Grade C of Intermediate level which sufficient to enter into a Chinese college as an undergraduate. I specialize in multilingual NLP, especially as it relates to Chinese, including segmentation, romanization, translation, and language learning techniques.
