Computational Neuroscience Doctoral Candidate | Queen’s University Trustee | Latvian Canadian Cultural Centre Board Chair and Treasurer
I’m a PhD candidate in neuroscience at Queen’s University studying how the brain generates movement. My research combines spiking neural networks, machine learning, and closed-loop simulations to understand how neural circuits produce stable yet flexible control of movement. I’m particularly interested in how biological systems solve control problems in ways that can inform both neuroscience and engineered systems. Outside the lab, I care deeply about governance, advocacy, and community service. I recently completed my term as President of the Society of Graduate and Professional Students (SGPS), where I worked to strengthen graduate student services and support. I now serve on the Queen’s University Board of Trustees and as Board Chair and Treasurer of the Latvian Canadian Cultural Centre, where I help oversee financial stewardship and community-building projects. My background spans neuroscience, computer science, and business, which shapes how I approach complex problems and collaborative leadership.
