Helping everyone from solo founders to enterprise team teams punch above their weight with 24/7 AI teammates.
As the co-founder and CEO of Xpress AI, I help business owners turn ideas into working AI solutions and give employees digital assistants that lift daily work. As a heavy user of AI technologies for over a decade, I can provide both generic advice and Xpress AI specific advice only when it fits. People using AI lift all boats and I'm happy to help people on their own AI journeys. Software and AI projects move faster when guided by someone who has worked on many kinds of computers. At age the age of 14, I remember buying Borland C to make games and soon put Corel Linux on a home PC to be able to write in more programming languages. Since then my programming journey has touched tiny 8-bit Arduino boards, iOS and Android phones, desktop PCs, and large Hadoop clusters. Positions have included intern software engineer at Panasonic Electric Works, Technical Manager leading the R&D department at Japan Business Systems Co., Ltd., and Chief Innovation Officer at Skymind (YC16). I have talked at many technical conferences in Japan and abroad, along with co-authoring the Japanese book “Learning Deep Learning through Application Implementation.” Feel free to connect with me to explore goals or just even just ask questions.

Better Mail
December 1, 2010 – Present
I created Better Mail because I was frustrated with the stock Gmail client in my Android phone. It uses a WebView to show Google's Gmail web application as it's UI and intercepts URLs to integrate the app into the system better than the browser does. It also used Gmail's push notifications. Unfortunately the latest Gmail web application is no longer compatible with Better Mail so I've pulled it from the Market.

Cultural Fit Analysis
The candidate has a diverse background, including co-founding a company, academic teaching, and working in various technical and leadership roles across different companies and countries (Japan, US). This demonstrates adaptability and a broad perspective. However, the target role is 'Android Developer', and the most relevant experience (Better Mail project) is quite old and the resume lacks recent, dedicated Android development work. This creates a significant gap in direct cultural fit for a hands-on Android development role, despite strong general technical leadership.
Soft Skills & Operational Fit
The candidate's experience as a co-founder, CIO, and technical manager suggests strong leadership, strategic thinking, and project management skills. The description of modernizing development processes (automated testing, CI, Git) indicates an understanding of operational best practices. Teaching experience also points to strong communication and mentorship abilities.
