Artificial Intelligence Scientist
I am currently a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in Computer Science at Royal Holloway, University of London. Previously I was a Research Associate at the University of Oxford. I believe that AI systems can help us achieve global peace, justice, dignity, and good standards of living. I also believe that they pose certain risks to these very same goals. I currently study and develop interpretable and neuro-symbolic AI systems, as I believe that they are a promising approach towards ensuring that the impact of AI is positive.

Cultural Fit Analysis
The candidate's background is heavily academic, with a focus on research and teaching. While this demonstrates intellectual rigor, there is no direct evidence of experience in collaborative software development environments, agile methodologies, or product-focused engineering teams, which are common in industry roles. The target role is 'Backend Engineer', but the candidate's experience is primarily in academia, which may present a cultural gap.
Soft Skills & Operational Fit
The candidate's background as a lecturer and research associate suggests strong communication, analytical thinking, and autonomous work capabilities. However, direct operational experience in a typical software development lifecycle is not evident from the provided data.
