CapGemini EPMO Project Management and Training for OPG
November 1, 2003 – April 1, 2004
CapGemini EPMO Project Management and Training for OPG CapGemini purchased Ontario Power Generation's IT department (New Horizons) and required capacity development to take on projects without risking daily $M late delivery penalty. Solution was to augment SAP Primavera EPMO with MS Project Server for 1,400 user base. Excepts from letter of recommendation: Dave D'Silva consistently exceeded expectations. Dave came in prior to our installation of MS Project Server and is assisting us with the migration of hundreds of project managers. Dave excelled at a number of roles, which are usually split amongst several experts. This rare combination in addition to his unique personality gave us what we needed to succeed: 1. Change Management / PMO Consultant 2. Technical Consultant 3. Technical Writer 4. Instructor 5. Project Lead As a Change Management consultant, Dave added great value. This included how we could potentially share information with our client through OLAP cubes and integrate our SAP financials. As a Technical Consultant, Dave advised and assisted us in the design and customization of both the Production and Training Server environments based on our business requirements and future needs. As a Technical Writer, Dave created a 100+ page manual for the three-day course. The course was solidified during a 3 day Pilot Training exercise which Dave successfully facilitated, basically on-the-fly. As an Instructor, Dave managed to flip a negative mood (fear, resistance) into a positive environment. Dave delivered on time and budget and far exceeded our expectations of skills transferred. Dave performed marketing on our behalf that we couldn't do for ourselves and raised our profile within the community. As a result of Dave's efforts, we got the project right the first time. Cultural Fit Analysis
The candidate's project diversity spans telecommunications, food manufacturing, financial services, government, and technology startups, indicating adaptability. Their involvement in social enterprise and quantum computing for social impact suggests a value-driven approach. The target role of Chief Technology Officer aligns with their past CTO/R&D Advisor roles and their current involvement in advanced technology firms. However, the projects are heavily focused on project/program management and less on deep technical architecture or software engineering leadership, which might be a gap for a CTO role in a highly technical product-driven company.
Soft Skills & Operational Fit
The candidate demonstrates strong leadership, mentorship, and change management capabilities through various project descriptions. Their experience in training, coaching, and fostering learning environments suggests a collaborative and development-oriented operational fit. The ability to bring together multi-disciplinary teams and negotiate support indicates strong interpersonal and communication skills. However, the provided data does not include specific psychometric test results to fully assess work attitude, stress handling, or team collaboration beyond what can be inferred from project descriptions.
