Research Scientist | Deep Learning
Engineer by education, researcher by vocation. I am always ready to challenge myself with projects that can have an impact on people's lives. My research interests mostly extend across three areas: machine learning, specifically deep learning; computer vision, in particular for medical imaging applications; signal processing, with a particular focus on acoustic signals. Currently, I am using my skills and expertise within the field of medical image analysis at Novo Nordisk, aiming at helping people with chronic diseases, such as diabetes, obesity and haemophilia. I have a PhD in electrical and electronic engineering, obtained at Aalborg University, where I worked within the Centre for Acoustic Signal Processing Research (CASPR). During my PhD, I successfully collaborated with academic and industrial partners, specifically with Universitat Pompeu Fabra (Spain), Università di Modena e Reggio Emilia (Italy), Oticon (Denmark) and Tencent AI Lab (USA). My dissertation focused on deep-learning-based audio-visual speech enhancement and it was the basis of my postdoctoral research, which I carried on at Oticon and Aalborg University, with the purpose of investigating cutting-edge technologies for multimodal hearing assistive devices. Before starting my PhD project, I got a Bachelor’s in Computer Science and Electronic Engineering at the University of Perugia (Italy), and a Master’s in Vision, Graphics and Interactive Systems at Aalborg University, where I worked on several projects, including one on biometrics in collaboration with Fingerprint Cards. I have also worked as an intern at Bang & Olufsen.

Cultural Fit Analysis
The candidate's background is heavily skewed towards research and development in AI/ML, particularly in academic and R&D settings within large organizations. While the 'Data Analyst' target role typically focuses on data interpretation, reporting, and business insights, the candidate's experience is more aligned with 'Data Scientist' or 'Machine Learning Engineer' roles, involving model development, algorithm design, and complex data processing. The project diversity is strong within the AI/ML domain but less so in traditional business intelligence or data analysis contexts. This might indicate a potential mismatch with a pure Data Analyst role, requiring a deeper dive into their interest in analytical reporting and business-focused data insights.
Soft Skills & Operational Fit
The candidate demonstrates strong leadership, initiative, and communication skills through their roles in leading AI/ML teams, initiating programs, and conducting seminars. Their experience in defining annotation protocols and managing data annotation activities suggests meticulousness and attention to detail. The teaching and mentoring experience indicates a collaborative and knowledge-sharing approach. The involvement in conferences and workshops highlights a proactive attitude towards continuous learning and engagement with the scientific community.
