Hands-on technical leader in AI/ML engineering, security, and large-scale distributed systems.
I love engineering, and I love people, and I'm great at bringing the two together. My CS PhD in ML, long experience with massive distributed systems at Google and Meta, time working in the legal expert field, and deep leadership experience make me uniquely skilled to solve problems in any organization. I can speak the right language to the right audience at the right time. I love digging into interesting problems and not just solving them, but setting up programs and scaffolding to keep them solved or managed over time. I've applied this to software systems, on-call operations, security review programs, and others. If you can solve a problem once and let it scale on its own, that's always a helpful bonus. But I'm also pragmatic; I won't try to boil the ocean just to get warm water. I have an eye for right-sizing solutions. In all of this I have had the privilege of working with great teams. That's where the real joy is in the work.

Cultural Fit Analysis
The candidate's background includes significant roles at major tech companies (Google, Meta, Atlassian) and leadership positions in startups (Data Machines Corp., Abundant Security). Their personal projects like 'Engram' and 'AgentQ' show a strong interest in cutting-edge AI and system design, aligning with an innovative and technically driven culture. The breadth of experience, from core engineering to management, security, and teaching, suggests adaptability and a broad perspective. However, the target role of 'Data Analyst' is a notable shift from their senior engineering and architectural background, which might require clarification regarding their long-term career aspirations and how they envision contributing in a data analyst capacity.
Soft Skills & Operational Fit
The candidate's extensive experience in leadership roles (CTO, Engineering Manager, Tech Lead) and teaching positions (Lecturer at Johns Hopkins, Educator at Google) suggests strong communication, mentorship, and strategic thinking skills. Their involvement in AI safety and security indicates a proactive and responsible approach to technology. The diverse project portfolio, including personal projects, demonstrates initiative and a continuous learning mindset. However, the target role of 'Data Analyst' is a significant pivot from their senior engineering and architectural roles, which might indicate a mismatch in operational expectations or a desire for a different type of challenge.
