With a solid background in programming which I developed through various projects completed as a freelancer and in companies. About 20 months ago, I began my journey in the world of Data Science. I have developed skills in Machine Learning, System Deployment, Analysis(Alteryx and SAS), and various data visualization software(Tableau and Microsoft Power Bi). The various projects I have worked on as an Intern at Data Analytics Center(DAC) have widened my skill set in the Data Science field.

Prediction of NCDs(Diabetes, Cancer prognosis and Cardiovascular diseases) using Machine learning and deployment on a web application, LIFE CARE
March 1, 2021 – July 1, 2021
This was my final year project on which I defended my Engineering diploma in Industrial Robotics majors in Intelligent systems and Robotics vision. The project was completed using the following: -Data collected through survey in the Douala neighborhood Softwares used included: -Alteryx Designer for data cleaning and blending -Julia programming language to build the Machine learning models, -JavaScript to build the API and -Genie web framework to deploy my model. The application build could predict the early onset of diabetes with a precision of 96%.
Cultural Fit Analysis
The candidate's background is heavily skewed towards data analytics, risk management, and project management within the financial services sector. While there's a project involving web application deployment, the core experience is not directly in backend software engineering. The target role of 'Backend Engineer' requires a stronger foundation in software development principles, system design, and specific backend technologies (e.g., Java, Python, Node.js, Go, database design, API development, microservices, cloud platforms). The current profile suggests a potential fit for roles bridging data and engineering, but a direct backend engineering role might require significant upskilling in core development practices. The diverse project experience, though not all directly backend, shows a breadth of exposure and willingness to tackle different challenges.
Soft Skills & Operational Fit
The candidate demonstrates strong communication skills through detailed project descriptions and experience in client-facing roles. Problem-solving is evident in diagnosing complex client needs and implementing corrective actions. Experience in cross-functional team collaboration (IT, compliance, marketing) indicates good operational fit for a team-oriented environment. The relocation to Canada suggests adaptability and a proactive approach to career development.
