I started my career as a Visual C++ Win32 programmer. Looking back I am happy that I picked up "Programming Windows" by Charles Petzold when I was in college. From there the journey began and i have worked across many platforms - c/c++ on solaris with sybase, C# with sql server, R, and Java with too many combinations to list here. My passion has always been to abstract the problem and solve it elegantly and in this endeavor I try and pick up new tools,languages and platforms that can help me think and solve better. That led me to learn languages like Q (kx.com - Arthur Whitney), J (jsoftware.com) for fun. Over the years I have played many roles - as an individual contributor, a module lead, a team lead, a project lead, an architect and then start all over again.As a Head of Technology I see my role as a multiplier. I connect with various teams across regions, be the voice of tech in leadership discussions, and mentor a few at the same time. I find it highly rewarding and I learn a lot from it.
