Software Engineer (Machine Learning/NLP/Multimodal/Security/Systems)
I love to solve challenging problems in order to deliver simple, elegant solutions that delight customers. I am interested in working with teams designing and building systems to deliver products that exceed user expectations. Currently I am working on cutting edge research and product development applying Machine Learning for multimodal problems involving video, audio, image and text resulting in releases across several Google products such as Chrome, Lookout, etc. Previously I have worked on automatic domain adaptation and quality estimation for machine translation and released a related product in collaboration with the Google Cloud team. In the past, I have led projects that spanned the organization to architect and implement scalable security systems, designed security protocols and written highly optimized security critical code for clients and servers used by Citrix collaboration products such as GoToMeeting, GoToWebinar and GoToTraining. I love to work in a collaborative and open culture, and like to mentor and learn from colleagues. I have successfully led several critical projects that required coordination of work across the organization (engineering, operations, security, product management, customer support, etc). I am proficient in several programming languages (C/C++, Java, Python, Erlang, Ruby, JavaScript, etc.), and can quickly pick up new languages and frameworks. I am comfortable doing cross platform development across Linux, Windows, Mac, iOS, and Android. Specialties: Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, Multimodal Learning - Video/Image/Audio/Text. Machine Translation. Distributed Systems and Protocols. WebRTC. Network Protocols. Systems Programming. Network Programming. Software Security. Security Architecture. Cryptographic Protocols. SSL/TLS. SOA Security. Agile Security Process. Secure SDL. Web Security. VoIP/Multimedia S

Cultural Fit Analysis
The candidate has a diverse background spanning academic research, software engineering, and leadership roles in both large corporations (Google, Citrix) and a startup (LastLine, Inc). The shift from physics to computer science, and then into machine learning and security, demonstrates intellectual curiosity and adaptability. While the recent experience is heavily focused on ML/NLP, the earlier security roles at Citrix and the VP of Engineering role at LastLine (a security company) suggest a potential fit for a Security Engineer role, indicating a breadth of interests and a willingness to pivot. However, the lack of recent, dedicated security projects or roles might require a re-evaluation of current alignment.
Soft Skills & Operational Fit
The candidate's resume indicates a strong background in research, leading teams, and identifying emerging technologies, suggesting adaptability and problem-solving skills. The descriptions of roles at Citrix highlight strategic thinking and the ability to transition research into production. However, without psychometric test results, a definitive assessment of work attitude, stress handling, and team collaboration is not possible.
