HYBRID AI-BASED MULTI-DISTRACTION DRIVER DETECTION SYSTEM
January 1, 2026 – Present
Designed and developed a real-time driver monitoring system to detect drowsiness, distraction (looking away), and face absence using computer vision and rule-based logic. Implemented face and eye landmark detection using MediaPipe to track eye openness (vertical distance) and nose position offset. Integrated OpenCV for video capture, real-time processing, and on-screen visual feedback (face mesh, eye lines, timers). Built a PyQt5 GUI with live video feed, status cards, notification list, and a history window showing past alerts grouped by date. Developed alert logic with 3-second sustained triggers for drowsy and looking away, and a 5-second rule for face-not-visible to send Twilio SMS/WhatsApp notifications. Added per-type cooldowns (60 seconds) to avoid notification spam and logged all alerts in SQLite with driver ID, duration, and notification flag. Implemented full-session video recording for post-drive review, with a video dropdown per date in the history window. Created a weekly schedule and attendance system to associate alerts with the correct driver. Optimized detection thresholds (nose offset > 100px, eye open < 12px) to minimize false positives. Tested the system in various lighting conditions using contrast enhancement (CLAHE) and gamma correction. Documented project design, UML diagrams, implementation, and test results for final evaluation. Technologies used: Python, OpenCV, and deep learning frameworks for image processing and real-time analysis.

Cultural Fit Analysis
The candidate's academic project demonstrates initiative and a practical application of AI/ML concepts, aligning with an innovative culture. The mention of 'unit testing mindset' and documentation suggests an appreciation for quality and structured development. The diverse skill set (Python, SQL, Salesforce) indicates a willingness to learn and adapt, which is positive for cultural fit. However, as a fresher, the breadth of experience is limited to academic projects, so further assessment during interviews would be beneficial.
Soft Skills & Operational Fit
The candidate's resume highlights strong commitment, self-motivation, problem-solving, critical thinking, and teamwork abilities. These traits suggest a positive operational fit, especially in a collaborative and challenging AI engineering environment. The proactive approach to new challenges and adaptability are valuable for a dynamic role.
