Implemented Naive Bayes classifier to identify hotel reviews from Web, MTurk, TripAdvisor as either truthful or deceptive, and either positive or negative. Used word tokens as features. AI for Future Elderly Model to simulate Japan's economic demography

Collaborators: Japan government, Stanford University, University of Southern California • Created statistical algorithms and implementation to simulate rising life expectancy of Japan population for 45+ year olds and predict increasing healthcare costs for 127 million population for next 50 years. • Built statistical model using supervised algorithms and conducted experiments on public data gathered from 1914-2011 by Japan government. Technologies: Machine learning (Negative binomial linear regression, temporal learning), data analysis, agent-based simulation model, Markov chain model. Language: Matlab.
Machine Learning for Wildlife conservation with UAVs

Collaborators: University of Southern California, Air Shepherd, Microsoft • Developed application to detect moving poachers and animals in near real-time (with latency of 0.38 sec) from video frames coming from UAVs. Used TensorFlow for ML, Azure for cloud infrastructure, Docker for deployment. • Conducted experiment on ten-thousands of frames and videos, and designed algorithm to enhance sampling and prediction accuracy to 85% from deep learning results. • Carried out research on use of Intel Movidius NCS kit to run SPOT app and improve hardware and system performance.
