🧭 Most CTOs take the title and find the job has changed underneath them. The work that earned the role stops being the work that defines success. The calendar fills with fires. The CEO starts asking for judgement, not answers. The engineering team is still yours, but it's no longer where the real work happens. And there's no one obvious to talk to about any of it.
