Chrono::Render
December 1, 2012 – May 1, 2013
Chrono::Render is a RenderMan framework intended to offer automated, service-oriented rendering for scientific visualization. The software package offers a compiled Python library which provides functionality for rendering with RenderMan-compliant renderers. This functionality is made available via a succint hierarchical data specification (XML, YAML, JSON) which configures the program to generate job-specific RenderMan api calls; this separation allows Chrono::Render to easily be glued with arbitrary processes (see [Autodesk Maya Plugin](maya/index.html)). Additionally, Chrono::Render exposes a stream-lined scripting and plug-in interface for managing specific visualizations or for extending the software to suit individual needs.
SculptUp: A Rapid, Immersive 3D Modeling Environment

Cultural Fit Analysis
The candidate's diverse background, spanning academic research, large tech companies (NVIDIA, Discord), and a current founding engineer role at a startup, suggests adaptability and a broad range of interests. Their involvement in building ML platforms from scratch at Discord and their current venture into an AI game console align well with an innovative and growth-oriented culture. The focus on community building at Discord and their personal projects in rendering and immersive modeling indicate a creative and collaborative spirit. The multiple bachelor's degrees in Computer Sciences, Mathematics, and Management/Human Resources from a reputable institution demonstrate intellectual curiosity and a well-rounded academic foundation. The career break, while not fully detailed, could indicate a desire for autonomy and exploration, which might fit well in a flexible, results-driven environment.
Soft Skills & Operational Fit
The candidate's experience at Discord as a Staff ML Engineer + Tech Lead highlights strong leadership, mentorship, and strategic planning abilities. They demonstrated initiative in forming the ML group, instituting design reviews, and managing quarterly objectives. Their role in saving the Data Platform and porting ML dev environments indicates strong problem-solving, debugging, and operational resilience. The emphasis on fostering team culture during remote work also points to strong interpersonal and team-building skills. The career break for professional development suggests a proactive approach to personal growth, though specific outcomes are not detailed.
